West Lancashire Investment Centre Supports Apprenticeship
Serviced office provider, West Lancashire Investment Centre, is supporting a regional awards ceremony to recognise outstanding apprentices and apprenticeship programmes in the area.
The Borough Council, local business leaders and young apprentices will descend upon the centre for an event that is hoped will further promote corporate apprenticeship and young people seeking skilled employment.
The awards that will be presented are for businesses and young people alike:
ΓÇó Large Employer of Apprentices Award
ΓÇó SME Apprentice Employer Award
ΓÇó Apprentice of the Year Award
A panel of judges will be made up of the Borough Council, West Lancashire Council for Voluntary Service, Downtown in Business and the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS).
ΓÇ£Many local companies are employing apprentices and helping young people to learn skills and take the first steps onto the career ladder,ΓÇ¥ says local Councillor, Adrian Owens.
ΓÇ£I am delighted that this new award scheme will enable companies and hard-working apprentices to get the recognition they deserve.ΓÇ¥
NAS reports that most UK businesses consider the shortage of skills and recruitment opportunity in the UK to be a bigger threat to business than the oil crisis or changes in consumer behaviour. Over 25% also consider vocational training to be more important than any other form of qualification.
The apprenticeship breakfast ceremony will take place in the Exhibition Centre of the West Lancashire Investment Centre on September 14th 2012.
