In April 2010, launched its ‘Business Centre of the Month’ award scheme, which is designed to recognise and celebrate UK serviced office centres that offer outstanding levels of service, a stimulating business community for clients, and that work consistently well with the team.

3 Lloyds Avenue, a serviced office centre located in the City of London, was named Business Centre of the Month by in July 2010. The centre was automatically entered into the Business Centre of the Year 2010 category along with eight other business centres, each of which has also won the monthly award between April and December 2010.

The overall award was judged by Managing Director Jim Venables and Head of UK Sales, Chris Meredith, who were faced with an impressive group of business centres. Among those eligible for the 2010 award were Orega’s Chertsey Business Centre, which won the inaugural Business Centre of the Month award in April, Thremhall Park in Stansted, and icon Business Centres’ highly sustainable Thorpe Park near Leeds.

Independent office providers in the UK were also well-represented by Portal Business Centres (Warrington), Touch Business Centre (Stirling) and Leigh House (Leeds), who each won the award in May, August and October respectively.


According to Chris Meredith, The Office Group’s “impressive” offering to clients, the quality of space at 3 Lloyds Avenue and the teamΓÇÖs “proactive and efficient approach” were just some of the key points that earned them the title of Business Centre of the Year 2010.

“This is a really fantastic centre, it goes all out to impress and we only ever hear great things from our clients,” Chris commented. “The team are proactive and efficient, always quick to respond and they look after our clients extremely well. You can tell that they have customer service at heart.”

As Head of the Sales team, Chris said that he is particularly impressed with the attitude of the team not just at 3 Lloyds Avenue, but throughout the entire staff force of The Office Group. “Their people – both The Office Group and Esselco, before and after the companies merged – are excellent, always proactive, and they work hard to keep up a good level of communication with us at all times,” he said.

Commenting on the centre itself, which has been enhanced to provide clients with a quality business environment complete with shared space and hot-desking facilities, and maximum breakout space on every floor, Chris said that the quality of the space is “second-to-none”, adding: “They are a real beacon for the flexible space industry.”

Many sustainable features have been introduced at 3 Lloyds Avenue, including bamboo decking on the outside terrace, individual temperature-controlled offices, and bicycle racks to encourage more sustainable transport methods. Shower facilities are also provided for tenants that cycle to work.

These features, along with quirky touches such as bowler hats as lamp shades, a ‘snug room’, Smeg fridges and Nintendo Wii’s in the break-out lounge, add to the general contemporary environment which has been described in many positive adjectives, ranging from “cool” and “funky”, to “innovative” and “ultra-modern”.


Feedback provided by clients of 3 Lloyds Avenue speaks for itself, as the centre has gained top marks on the majority of reviews and attracted comments ranging from “very happy”, to “couldnΓÇÖt imagine working anywhere else”.

Among others, Thomas Jacquel from E-Swin commented that the best thing about the office was the service, while Ben Potter from ASPone said that the staff are “professional” and “provide a great range of services”, adding: “We would be lost without them!”

It goes without saying that first impressions are vital, and it is something that routinely influences a client’s decision to take space, or to keep looking. Crucial to a client’s early opinion of an office is the team, and how they welcome the client during a visit to tour the business centre for the first time.
