Taking on the Three Peaks Challenge

Taking on the Three Peaks Challenge

This weekend IΓÇÖll be pitting my (questionable) fitness and stamina against the three tallest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales all in support of charity. As part of a team of 4, IΓÇÖll be taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge and aiming to complete all the ascents within 24 hours.

The clock starts when we step onto the base of Ben Nevis around 5pm on Saturday afternoon. The climb and descent is expected to take around 5 hours in total and reaches an altitude over 1,300m.

A quick bite to eat is followed by a 6 hour drive and the next mountainous challenge, Scafell Pike. At 4am we will begin scaling EnglandΓÇÖs tallest peak, with the round trip expected to take an estimated 4 hours.

Finally, itΓÇÖs another 5 hour journey to reach the base of the highest summit in Wales, Snowdon. This ascent is likely to the most challenging climb, a lack of sleep in addition to the aches and pains from the previous 2 hikes will see us race against the clock to complete the challenge within the 24 hour period. By the end of the weekend we will have travelled nearly a 1,000 miles, climbed around 25 miles and complained a lot!

If youΓÇÖd like to offer your encouragement then please visit our just giving page and make a donation to our chosen charity, The Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust. ItΓÇÖs the largest brain tumour charity in the UK and funds crucial research, whilst also supporting and providing information to those suffering.
