Orega team Raise £300 for Macmillan Cancer Support

Donning bright green morphsuits, baking delicious cakes and performing yoga in 40┬░C heat is all in a day’s work for the team at Orega’s Wandsworth business centre.

Over ┬ú300 was raised by the team for Macmillan Cancer Support recently, as part of the charity’s ‘world’s biggest coffee morning’ event. Groups and businesses all over the UK took part by organising events and raising money for the work of Macmillan, with customer service representatives Emma Brackenridge and Sharka Komurkova (pictured) topping the bill by wearing bright green morphsuits for the duration of the event.

The pair certainly attracted attention, which boosted cake sales and also pushed up sponsorship of Sharka’s 30-day bikram yoga challenge, which helped to bring the overall total to ┬ú300.

No mean feat, bikram yoga – also known as ‘hot yoga’ – features traditional techniques that are practiced for 90 minutes a day in a heated room, that typically reaches temperatures of 40.6┬░C and 40% humidity. This is said to aid deeper stretching, restore health to muscles and increase circulation throughout the body.

For Sharka, 30 days of bikram yoga was not enough and she has since extended the challenge to 102 days, to raise even more money for Macmillan.

As well as Sharka’s mammoth yoga challenge, the sales of cakes, biscuits and doughnuts contributed to the overall total and the pair encouraged sales (as well as smiles) by offering discounts to clients that proved sufficiently entertaining.

The team were congratulated by clients for organising such an engaging event and raising an impressive amount for a worthwhile cause.
