Opportunity for SMEs to Support British Olympic Athletes
Our Team 2012 offers SMEs the chance to support Britain’s Olympic competitors
With exactly two years to go before the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London, key figures from the world of sport including gold medallist Sir Matthew Pinsent are urging UK SMEs to get behind Britain’s Olympic athletes.
Small and medium businesses have the chance to join ‘Our Team 2012’, a fundraising programme that allows businesses to get involved in the build-up to the Games whilst supporting British talent as they train and prepare.
Businesses taking part in the scheme are recognised with an official status, prospects for staff engagement, access to exclusive hospitality events with networking opportunities and seminars, and tickets to major sporting events across the UK.
“It has never been more important, given the difficult economic situation we’re in, to have business behind our athletes,” said the Minister for Sport and Olympics, Hugh Robertson.
“Supporting the Olympics is not just something the big multinationals can do – it is within the reach of every small and medium business in the UK and IΓÇÖd encourage as many as possible to get involved.”
Mr Robertson added: “With just two years to go until the Games begin, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to support the UKΓÇÖs Team 2012 athletes on their home turf.”
30 spaces in each of the UK’s 12 regions have been reserved, allowing businesses from all over the country to get involved.
