On Friday (27th November) several representatives from attended the annual BCA Gala Dinner, held at the prestigious Park Lane Hotel.

The event proved to be the most successful to date, with an excellent turnout of almost 400 BCA members and serviced office industry representatives. This illustrates the growing success rate of the serviced office market, and highlights the resilience of the sector despite the difficult economy.’s Managing Director and co-founder Jim Venables attended the event, along with Head of UK Sales Chris Meredith, and Team Leaders Kirsty Lees, Chris Mapp, Stephen Preston and Rachel Lapins.

“This is the sixth year I’ve attended the BCA Dinner,” said Chris, “and this year there were more people than ever. It just goes to show how successful the industry has become over the years.”

Chris commented that the sell-out event created a buzzing atmosphere. “It was very industry focused, and many significant figures from the serviced office sector were in attendance, such as MWB Chief Executive John Spencer, David Alberto of Avanta, BE Group co-founder David Saul, Vincent Scammell of Regus, and BCA Executive Director Jennifer Brooke.”

Chris added: “During a talk by Evans Easyspace, Tom Stokes was recognised for his ongoing and dedicated work to solidify the serviced office industry in the eyes of the Government, by working closely with MPs throughout the year.”

The evening started with a champagne reception, where guests had the chance to come together and socialise before being seated for dinner, and the main event – the BCA Awards ceremony.

Presented by Julie Caulder from the BCA Board, there were three coveted awards on offer for the most outstanding serviced office providers throughout the year.

The BCA Trade Supplier of the Year went to Centrix, a leading telephony and internet provider. Sales and Marketing Director Richard Burbage said: “Having the BCA and its members ‘seal of approval’ highlights the quality of service we provide to the flexible space market.”

BCA Workspace of the Year was awarded to Basepoint, with its centres in Southampton, Folkestone and Newhaven. The final and most coveted award was for the BCA Business Centre of the Year, which went to Business Environment WestPoint.

Laura Raschka, centre manager at WestPoint, commented: “It is a privilege to be named the BCA Business Centre of the Year, and it is our additional complimentary services that makes us stand out from our competitors and is part of our commitment to support SME’s during this difficult economic period.”

BCA Executive director, Jennifer Brooke, said: “The record attendance at this year’s BCA Gala Dinner highlights the continued resilience of our sector despite a very challenging trading environment.”
