Office Space Letting Bucks Trend in Birmingham
Despite recent reports by DTZ that the office space market in Birmingham having been subdued during the second quarter of 2010, Property firm GE Capital Real Estate has this week secured the largest letting in the Edgbaston area of the city for over 12 months.
The six year lease will see the West Midlands Specialised Commissioning Team (WMSCT), part of the NHS, consolidate its three existing offices in the West Midlands region into a single office space located in Edgbaston. Speaking to the Birmingham Post, Janice Cunningham of the WMSCT explained:
ΓÇ£Our main priority is to ensure that high quality specialised healthcare services are provided across the West Midlands.ΓÇ¥
ΓÇ£The opportunity to bring our team, currently based in three offices, together under one roof enables us to be much more efficient and productive in the way we work, whilst the central location allows us easy access to hospitals in all parts of the region.ΓÇ¥
Once completed the NHS team will occupy just over 10,000 sq. ft. of office space at the recently refurbished building on Hagley Road. The building, which has received an internal and external refurbishment costing £1.6m, offers over 60,000 sq. ft. in total and has secured ITC training firm Zenos as its first tenant.
