Office Space at Heart of MediaCityUK Expansion
Over 2m sq. ft. of office space will form the core of future phases at MediaCityUK, with the Peel Group revealing ambitious plans that would ultimately create a new town centre for Salford Quays over a 20 year period.
Submitted to Salford City Council, the plans focus on an area east of the current site and would represent a 5m sq. ft. extension to the showcase development that has already attracted the likes of the BBC and ITV.
Reportedly set to be delivered in four phases, the large supply of office space being planned would be joined by a mix of residential, retail and leisure space in addition to car parking and public spaces.
Stephen Wild, managing director, MediaCityUK, said: ΓÇ£We see the new development playing a pivotal role in supporting what Peel has already built in the initial phases, as well as furthering the city councilΓÇÖs aspiration of creating a new town centre at Salford Quays. This is a 20-year plan and demonstrates our continuing long-term commitment to the area. We will now consult as widely as possible in producing our detailed plans.ΓÇ¥
To fit with the long-term strategy of Salford City Council, the development has been designed to address the wider needs of the area. As such the plans will focus on infrastructure, transport and green policies that will create a positive blend of social, economic and environmental needs.
