Office space and housing plan to regenerate former crime scene
A derelict pub in Wolverhampton, the Waggon and Horses, is to be revamped following the approval of planning permission given by the council last week. Office space, a business complex, apartments and retail units are due to be built on the site, with work expected to start early next year.
The former pub was the scene of a gangland shooting in July last year. The two men responsible were given life sentences last week after being convicted of attempted murder.
The majority of local residents have backed plans for the site, as many feared that the derelict building would become the target for anti-social behavior.
The new complex is expected to help regenerate the area and attract new business, potentially in the financial and legal service sectors.
According to the Expressandstar.com, Developers First City said:
“It is an exciting project which will bring vast benefits to the area, including new homes and jobs.”
