New Office Builds Rally in Spite of Downturn

Across the UK, a number of new builds are currently or soon to be underway to improve and regenerate areas with new office space.

Just this week, reports have been coming in that new offices are cropping up all over, from London to West Yorkshire to the Midlands, showing success despite fears of a double-dip recession.

Here are some of the highlights from new office news over the past week:

A £27 million project has found a contractor in Galliford Try, paving the way for work to begin on 100,000 sq.ft. of Grade A office space in St James’s Park, London.

The same construction firm is due to start work on £13.5 million worth of retail units and office space in Binley, Warwickshire as part of a scheme to be completed by January 2013.

Elsewhere, a concept drawing has gone on display as part of a recent regeneration project to create 400 new jobs in West Yorkshire by building new office space in Halifax town centre. This latest design joins others in a scheme led by Gregory Projects to spend £40 million in up-scaling commercial space in Halifax and the surrounding areas.

With these and other concepts currently exchanging hands in various regions of the UK, office space investment does not appear to be daunted by recent fears for the economy.
