Leeds United Ground Hosts Charity Football Event
Elland Road, home of Leeds United football club, will once again host the Yorkshire Property Charity Football event – a yearly competition involving professional footballing stars and representatives from Yorkshire’s property industry.
The date has been set for 14th October 2010, and professionals from the world of business and football will take part in the annual clash followed by a fundraising dinner, that will see proceeds sent to children’s charity Barnardo’s.
Last year’s Yorkshire Property Charity Football raised over ┬ú23,000.
In 2010, organisers of the event are hoping to bypass this sum and have an impressive list of auction prizes up for grabs. Around 400 guests are expected to attend the evening dinner, which will be hosted at the club’s banqueting facilities, and guest speakers will include John Stiles – son of the legendary 1966 world cup hero Nobby.
During the day, property professionals will be joined by a number of former players including Peter Beagrie and Craig Hignett, along with Sky TV reporter and former Hull City/Bradford City player Dean Windass.
The event, which is now in its sixth year, was kicked off by two property agents – Iain McPhail and Jonathan Phillips – who organised the events at various venues. This is the second year that the event has been held at Elland Road, and they are also the only charity able to play on Leeds United soil.
On behalf of the committee, Jonathon Phillips of Forsyth Business Centres plc said:
“We are wholly committed to continue the success of the Yorkshire Property Charity Football event which has become an important fundraiser for Barnardo’s.
There is so much goodwill across Yorkshire Businesses and we are appealing to our colleagues to give their support by sponsorship, booking a table, donating an auction prize or making a simple pledge.”
