Last two office buildings at MediaCityUK handed over to BBC
The BBC have received the keys for their final two office buildings, located at the acclaimed MediaCityUK site at Salford Quays.
Peel Media handed over the keys for buildings A and B last week. Building C was handed over in October 2009.
The BBC now has keys to all three of their new office properties, and work is expected to commence soon to fit out the buildings, which will include IT, cabling and telecoms.
According to MediaCityUK, BBC Children’s presenters Sonali Singh from Newsround, Helen Skelton from Blue Peter and Alex Winter from CBeebies (pictured) visited the site, which will become the home of their respective programmes in 2011.
The handover met the deadline imposed recently which stated that the buildings would be finalised within the month of March.
As reported on our blog, Chris Kane, Head of Property at the BBC, recently commented that the scheme is “an ambitious programme” that has been designed as an “enduring landmark building that the public can use”.
He added: “With Salford Quays ahead of schedule and under budget, the benefits that will be delivered alongside it are huge.”
All of the new studio and office buildings will meet the coveted BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating for sustainability.
