Growing Places Funding Boosts Midlands Development

A scheme to revive abandoned office builds and housing developments in Staffordshire has received a major £3.72 million boost from government fund, Growing Places.

The company behind the project, Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) was awarded the funding following an initial sum of £7.6 million, received in November 2011.

The Borough Council will reportedly make the most of their cash payment by creating new roundabouts and roads in East Staffordshire, and establishing new office space, commercial properties and residential homes off the Dove Way Bypass in Uttoxeter.

The Council has referred to as a ΓÇÿlong-standing priorityΓÇÖ.

ΓÇ£I am delighted that our project has been approved by the Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP,ΓÇ¥ says Council Leader, Richard Grosvenor.

ΓÇ£The successful bid will allow for the provision of a new roundabout, access road and remediation of the site. The benefits of the project will be immense. It will open up the site, creating more than 500 jobs, 56 homes and more than 17,000 square metres of commercial floor space.ΓÇ¥

ΓÇ£The planning application for the development has been submitted and is currently being considered,ΓÇ¥ confirms a spokesman from the Council.

ΓÇ£Once it has received approval we will be able to move on to the procurement process to appoint a contractor to carry out the construction of the roundabout and remediation works.ΓÇ¥
