Greenhouse: Super Sustainable Office Property Launches in Leeds

Greenhouse: Super Sustainable Office Property Launches in Leeds

Leeds certainly seems to be getting its fair share of development at the moment.

One of the latest schemes is an office property – claimed to be the greenest in Leeds – which is set to launch next week.

Greenhouse‘ – a sustainable office building offering 15,000 sq ft of Grade A office space in the South of Leeds, has been redeveloped by Citu from a 1930s lodge formerly called Shaftsbury House, into a mixed-use property providing modern office space and residential accommodation.

The property uses a range of technology including wind turbines, solar power and heat exchange systems to reduce its carbon footprint of tenants, which is expected to save office tenants around 60% per year on energy costs, and help residential tenants save £600 per year on energy bills.

Most of the space available is flooded with natural light, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows. There is also a 24-hour live-in concierge and a free vintage bike hire club.

According to TheBusinessDesk, Fraser Stride, Marketing Director at Citu, said:

“What’s exciting about the office space in Greenhouse is that it’s within a much wider community, and has so much to offer so many different types of business.

“We’ve had interest from SMEs looking to reduce their carbon footprint, FDs looking to reduce their energy expenditure, but also from a wide range of creative and media focused businesses who are excited about the next generation broadband and the scope this could have for them.”

A range of excellent facilities are available with office space from one desk up to 4,900 sq ft, along with a private on-site gym, high-speed internet, secure car parking and cycle storage, and showers to encourage clients to cycle to work. There is also a private courtyard for growing organic herbs and vegetables.

Leeds currently appears to be undergoing a wave of development in the office market, such as the 110,000 sq ft office space scheme in Wellington Place, and the Victoria Gardens redevelopment that is set to smarten up this area of the city – despite worries by some councillors over the proposed type of trees.
