David Alberto Takes on 105 mile Challenge for Charity

David Alberto Takes on 105 mile Challenge for Charity

A summer spree of charity events seems to have taken the serviced office space industry by storm this week, with AvantaΓÇÖs Managing Director David Alberto being revealed as the latest industry figure to pull on his running shoes in aid of good cause.

Hoping to raise an incredible £10,000 for the Children’s medical research charity Sparks, David will be taking part in the tough and gruelling Lakeland 100 – a 105 mile fell race across the mountainous backbone of the Lake District in Cumbria.

Crossing the start line at 5.30pm on Friday 29th July, the race is considered to be one of the UKΓÇÖs toughest long distance competitions.

ΓÇ£The event ideally requires competitors to be experienced ultra distance runners with excellent navigation skills,ΓÇ¥ comments David Alberto.

ΓÇ£So whilst this is my very first 100 mile event, IΓÇÖve run a number of long distance events – the longest being 60 miles in the Brecon Beacons and have been training hard since the beginning of the year for the event.

But with a circular route along bridleways, footpaths and 22,000 ft. of ascents and descents ahead of him, David is under no illusions about just how tough the event ahead of him is.

ΓÇ£The dropout rate over the last few years has been around 70% and I am under no illusion as to how hard this race is.

ΓÇ£However I am confident that my training has fully prepared me as raising money for Sparks is an extremely worthy cause. I aim to complete the course in under 30 hours and I know the thought of the monies being raised for Sparks will be a key motivator when the challenging times during the race are upon meΓÇ£.
