Businesses to Have Breakfast with Local MP

The business community in the West Lancashire area are invited to share views and engage in debate at a breakfast with Esther McVey MP, the Private Secretary to the Employment Minister.

The breakfast will be held at the West Lancashire Investment Centre in Skelmersdale on Friday 14 September in a bid to unite local businesses.

The event is being organised by Downtown in Business and the local Borough Council.

ΓÇ£Despite the challenges caused by unprecedented economic conditions, the resilience and stability of the West Lancashire business community continues to make it a competitive business destination,ΓÇ¥ insists Downtown in Business CEO, Frank McKenna.

ΓÇ£Public, private and third sector partners must work together in order to sustain a strong and stable base for long term business success. Continued investment in skill sharing through apprenticeships and maintaining a powerful business community will be critical in helping to achieve this.ΓÇ¥

The event will see Esther McVey MP, Frank McKenna, Louise Dawson of the West Lancashire College and local Councillor Adrian Owens speak on a number of issues concerning business leaders and invite collaboration from those attending.

ΓÇ£The business community has overcome many challenges in recent years and there are more challenges ahead,ΓÇ¥ says Councillor Owens.

ΓÇ£We are stronger when we work together and we are organising this special event to bring people together informally, where they can listen to speakers, meet fellow decision-makers, and discuss the issues that matter to them.ΓÇ¥

The event will also include the Apprenticeship Awards ceremony to honour the contributions made by apprentice employers and hardworking apprentices from the region.

Attendance is free and open to all West Lancashire businesses who wish to attend. Visit to sign up.
