Bumble Bees & Rooftop Yoga: 5 Business Centres Going Way Beyond the Basics

From pets in residence to Olympic guests, these business centres are going above and beyond to bring something extra to their space and their community.

Bumble Bees in Buzziness Centre

1. Buzziness Centre

Doing their bit for nature, this business centre in Nottingham recently welcomed a hive of bees to their business centre. Their latest ΓÇ£buzziness centreΓÇ¥ occupies a shady spot in the garden and is already 100% occupied. While a beekeeper will be onsite once a week to tend to the beesΓÇÖ needs, interested tenants can get up close and see the hive at work ΓÇô the reception team can provide protective clothing.

The beehive business centre follows hot on the heels of a £2m investment by the group to fit solar panels across the majority of its buildings. It’s safe to say that the company is taking its green credentials seriously.

2. Rooftop yoga

If youΓÇÖre looking for less buzz and more inner peace, then the folks at this business centre in Leeds may be able to help. The new centre hosts rooftop yoga sessions to help business tenants focus their minds and ease away the stresses of the workday. Yoga classes will form a regular roster of events to take place on the roof terrace. They assure us you can look forward to barbecues and outdoor meetings too.

3. Pooch in residence

WeΓÇÖve written before about the benefits of pets in the office, so itΓÇÖs great to discover some business centres welcoming our furry, four-legged friends. Leading the way is this business in Windsor which has one resident business pooch. Hobbs is a Weimaraner and can mostly be found following his owner around the office.

While weΓÇÖve been big fans of this centre for a long time, weΓÇÖre pleased to hear that theyΓÇÖve got the canine seal of approval now too.

4. Olympic grade guest speakers

One of the perks of being based in a business centre is getting invited to regular conferences, training events and talks from experts in a wide range of fields. After all, these events can prove an invaluable source of information and inspiration for SMEs. But in Exeter this business centre is taking their events calendar to Olympic levels, after inviting Team GB 2016 windsurfer Izzy Hamilton to be their latest guest speaker.

Hamilton delivered a talk on what it takes to be a professional windsurfer and how she qualified for the British Sailing Team for the Rio 2016 Olympics. Inspiring stuff!

5. Anyone for croquet?

Looking for a more unusual way to get some fitness and fresh air into your workday? We may have found the answer.

A new business centre set to open in Fulham later this year will offer tenants access to a variety of outdoor leisure facilities, including a croquet lawn. No, we donΓÇÖt know how to play either, but we reckon we could be persuaded to learn if there was a croquet lawn conveniently situated on our doorstep.
