£500,000 for fresh business ideas from Barclays
Entrepreneurs in waiting are being given the chance to see their ideas come to life thanks to the £500,000 “Take One Small Step” competition launched by Barclays Bank.
As a company who help many businesses each year to find the best serviced office space, including many start-ups and SMEs, I thought it would be a great idea to promote this competition through the officebroker.com blog.
Open to both those looking to start up in business and existing companies, the competition is looking for fresh ideas from Midland based businesses –And if your idea is chosen you could walk away with £50,000 to help see your project or business dream come to life.
The idea for this competition apparently materialized after Barclays commissioned a comprehensive study of SMEs, featuring 2,200 SMEs from 20 of the UKΓÇÖs major cities which revealed, amongst other things, that owners SMEs were hoping to put a minimum of two million people back in work during the next 12 months ΓÇô including 48,000 + apprenticeships in the West Midlands alone.
John Addison, regional manager, Barclays Business, was quoted as saying: ΓÇ£Local businesses are the backbone of BritainΓÇÖs economy and the heartbeat of our communities.
ΓÇ£They give colour to our high streets and provide jobs for so many people. ItΓÇÖs important for us to recognise and support their ongoing efforts in such challenging market conditions.
ΓÇ£Hard work, commitment, innovation and creativity are the ingredients for any successful business and we want to provide a boost for the ten freshest and most deserving ideas in the UK.”
