5 Broadgate Office Scheme Submitted
British Land and the Blackstone Group have today submitted an extensive planning application for the 5 Broadgate building, a world class office development that will provide office space capable of accommodating over 5000 employees of the financial services firm UBS.
With 700,000 sq. ft. of office space at UBSΓÇÖs disposal upon completion, the scheme will allow UBS to consolidate its trading operation into a single building located in the heart of the City.
This new office building is said to represent the continued evolution of British Lands Broadgate office estate and its investment with the City ΓÇô a commitment which is credited with retaining UBS, one of the worldΓÇÖs leading investment banks, within the City of London as British Land Chief Executive Chris Grigg explains;
ΓÇ£It is vital that the City is able to meet the current and future needs of key occupiers for attractive, flexible and sustainable floor-space, as financial services will be a major driver in the recovery of the UK economy from recession.ΓÇ¥
In addition to the continued investment in the Central London office market, British Land will also continue to push forward its commitment to creating sustainable working environments ΓÇô with a BREEAM rating of ΓÇ£ExcellentΓÇ¥ targeted for the 5 Broadgate office scheme and the delivery of facilities that will encourage motorcycle and cycle usage.
In order to achieve these high levels of sustainability, a series of innovative environmental measures have been incorporated into the building design – Methods include photovoltaics and solar thermal panels and the reduction of water consumption by harvesting rainwater and increasing biodiversity through the incorporation of green roofs and terraces.
