£100m Business Park at Aberdeen Airport
Plans have been unveiled for a £100m business park located next to Aberdeen Airport, covering 54 acres and providing up to 2,000 jobs – according to the BBC.
Ribnort Ltd is the company behind the proposal, with founding director George Stevenson describing the development as a way of “attracting new and retaining existing business in the north east”, adding that “commercial development land is in desperately short supply in Aberdeen, particularly in the north of the city”
The development, which is set to be called ABZ, will be situated on the southern border of the airport between Dyce Drive and Wellhead Drive. Mr Stevenson described the site as “an absolutely ideal position in terms of its location adjacent to the A96 and the future Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route.”
Managing Director of Aberdeen Airport, Derek Provan said “I am delighted that after a number of years, Ribnort Ltd and Aberdeen Airport Ltd have been able to deliver a robust development plan for this site, which offers growth to the airport in line with our 25 year master plan and strengthening economic growth for the region.”
Kate Dean, Enterprise, planning and infrastructure convener, said: “The city council is committed to providing much-needed high-quality development land to allow our industries to grow in order to help our local economy and to keep Aberdeen at the forefront of the Scottish and UK economies.”
“This major scheme is an excellent example of the city council, the developer and Transport Scotland working together to secure major development in a strategic location close to Aberdeen Airport and the line of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route.”
