Surrey History

Surrey was initially an unimportant county in the Roman times, seen only as a way of getting to the Southern Coast from London. Following the Norman invasion, Surrey became more popular and castles and monuments where built in Farnham and Guildford, which are now major tourist attractions in the Towns. Industry wise, in the 17th Century Epsom became famous for its spring which was high in minerals and is where Epsom salts originated.
