Out & About

Paddington Train Station, an impressive grade I listed property designed by Brunel, is the London terminus for the Heathrow Express Train which offers a non-stop service to Heathrow Airport every 15 minutes. There are regular trains to all major UK cities, with journey times to Birmingham taking just over 2 hours. The station is home to a fantastic statue of Paddington Bear, which is popular with tourists and children and leaves commuters in no doubt of their location. A well-known Paddington landmark is St Mary’s Hospital, situated next to the railway station, and the birth place of recent royals Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The hospital is also famous for being the establishment in which Sir Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin and carried out huge amounts of pioneering work. Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are both just a short walk away from the train station in Paddington and offer a lovely setting to relax in on a lunch break or Summer evening. Norfolk Square gardens and Talbot Square Gardens also provide a good break out spot in the district, with deck chairs already provided. You will find a range of chain restaurants in the district, such as Ask Italian and Zizzi, however there are also some surprising independent gems in Paddington, such as Angelus Restaurant, Bel Canto and The Village Organic Bakery Pizzeria.
