officebroker.com Blog: September Round-Up

September Business Centre of the Month… September’s award-winner was The Office Group’s Farringdon Too, a super-green property in the City of London, offering everything from cycle storage and recycling bins to green roofs and a veggie patch.

The Office Group was also in the headlines recently following the announcement that Lloyd Dorfman – founder of global exchange firm The Travelex Group – has bought the company. This adds to Dorfman’s existing multi-million pound property portfolio that also includes serviced office company Esselco Services. Incidentally, Esselco’s prestigious and uber-modern office property 3 Lloyds Avenue also won officebroker.com’s Business Centre of the Month award in July.

Office Provider Round-up… Last month, office and industrial space experts Evans Easyspace reached their 10th anniversary, Regus took on another property in Birmingham, Abbey Business Centres received a record number of nominations for their annual staff awards, and Avanta celebrates the 2-year anniversary of their very first business centre in India.

We also spoke to Richard Axtell of Citibase to learn more about the acquisition of their two latest buildings, which brought their portfolio up to 27, and also discovered that the company were well on track to reach their ultimate goal of 50 UK centres.

David Prior told us about the £2m refurbishment that took place at The Atrium Business Centre in Dorking, and Paul Cook of Quorum Estates Ltd gave us his views on the North West property market as well as news of Quorum’s latest property addition in Macclesfield.

Fame and fortune? Having shared a stage with the likes of The Maccabees, The Noisettes and Dizzee Rascal in July at the NME Lovebox Festival, officebroker.com’s account manager Tom Stiles again basked in the limelight last month – this time on the BBC Midlands Today news programme! Tom and his band the Unfriendly Neighbours performed at the Birmingham Artsfest event – the city’s largest cultural festival and the biggest free arts festival in the UK.

Carry on Karting… As part of a team-building day out, officebroker.com MD Jim Venables treated staff to a go-karting experience at Tamworth’s Priory Park kart racing circuit. Despite some team members clearly having an unfair advantage (Chris Mapp), and others who thought they could take the spoils by cheating their way to the top (not naming any names… Azeem!), the day was a brilliant success and a lot of fun.

Long Live the Leaf… September has been a green month for us, with the super-sustainable Farringdon Too winning our Business Centre of the Month award. So in keeping with this theme, did you know that the introduction of healthy plants to your office space can actually make it a healthier place for your staff?

And finally… A little known fact! We have sailed past the 10,000 workstation mark this year, with the largest single placement being for 100 workstations in Guildford.

I definitely think we need a re-match. I’m sure there was more cheating going on than meets the eye… Why else would Chris and Neil have won? :)
