Wakefield Scores New Indoor Football Centre with Bizspace

Wakefield’s first ever indoor football centre has just been launched, located at the Bizspace Business Park at Thorne Mills.

Sporting four 38-metre pitches that make them ideal for 5 or 6-a-side games, the new Wakefield Football Centre is expected to draw plenty of interest from local teams, schools and businesses.

Darren Hoyland from Wrenthorpe came up with the idea to create the new centre, along with three long-term friends who are based in the area. They have played together in numerous Wakefield football leagues over the years and, as Darren comments, it has been a 12-year ambition of his to open an indoor football pitch.

“I’ve had the idea of an indoor football centre in Wakefield for the past 12 years, but never found a building that suited our needs,” he said, “until last year when I made contact with Bizspace. The flexibility they provided enabled me to turn the dream into a reality.”

Darren and his team previously had to travel to Leeds to play or practice during the week, as there were no local facilities in Wakefield.

“We are passionate about providing the local community with a truly first class facility and one which we believe will have a positive knock-on effect for local Saturday and Sunday leagues,” he commented. “The first to play at the centre included junior teams from Alverthorpe, Stanley, Wrenthorpe, Altofts and the Wakefield Jets, and we’ve already had interest from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and Wakefield FC.”

Pitches can be booked by the hour and 12-team tournaments can also be arranged. Along with facilities for children’s parties and corporate events, the centre also has a refreshment area and shower facilities for male, female and the disabled.

Commenting on the new facility, Thorne Mills centre manager Julie Russell said that Bizspace can accommodate “businesses of all sizes and types”, and referred to the Wakefield Football Centre as a “perfect fit”.

“It’s great to see that the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in Wakefield and we look forward to working with Darren Hoyland, and his associates, to help make the new venture the outstanding success that it deserves to be.”

Bizspace offers flexible office, workspace, industrial and storage space to businesses in 110 locations throughout the UK. Find out more about Thorne Mills in Wakefield online at officebroker.com.
