Stephen Takes to the River Trent for St Giles Hospice!
Our own Client Services Director Stephen Preston spent Sunday 23rd September rowing up the River Trent as part of a dragon boat race to raise tens of thousands of pounds for St Giles Hospice.
As part of a competing team, Stephen and friends donned surgical scrubs, picked up their oars and rowed upriver to a phenomenal £10,000 charitable donation.
StephenΓÇÖs team was called ΓÇÿStuartΓÇÖs FortuneΓÇÖ in memory of their friend and team leaderΓÇÖs father, Stuart Mutch, who lost his battle to cancer in 2011.
The StuartΓÇÖs Fortune team were eliminated early on in the heats, while the remaining 4 teams went on to semi-finals and finals races. Everyone enjoyed the day and raised incredible amounts in donations for the St Giles Hospice charity.
“Of the £10,000 we raised, I got £430 from officebroker.com alone!” says Stephen. “I think the overall winners were the Virgin Active Team, who took home some champagne and a model of a dragon.
ΓÇ£I donΓÇÖt think it mattered to any of us that we didnΓÇÖt win ΓÇô the most important thing was how much we raised for such a worthy cause and that we were all just out there having fun!ΓÇ¥
