Simon Jones: The Big 30 in the Big Apple

officebroker.com’s very own Simon Jones has reached a milestone birthday today – the big 30 – and is celebrating by jetting off for a long weekend in New York.

Simon planned his holiday so that he would be in New York for his birthday, which we suspect was in a vain attempt to escape the office before anyone found out about his big day.

Despite this, his trusted colleagues knew all about it well in advance and proceeded to hatch a plan that would send him off in style.

So on Wednesday, Simon’s last day in the office until his return next week, his colleagues and fellow office dwellers clubbed together to secretly decorate his desk in an array of balloons, streamers and confetti, along with the inevitable mid-life-crisis-related birthday card messages and a large “30” badge.

Unfortunately for Simon, who is the only male employee in an office of 14, the style leaned somewhat towards a girly theme which saw his desk overwhelmed by pink and purple – even his badge was a bright pink flower. However, the token male gesture was a football-shaped birthday cake which lasted approximately 2.5 seconds.

Ever the gentleman, Simon proceeded to wear his pink badge for the rest of the day and even put up with the half dozen pink balloons tied to his computer.

In true officebroker.com fashion we couldn’t let Simon reach his big day without sharing the news with the rest of the serviced office community. And to ensure that Simon himself doesn’t conveniently forget about his birthday milestone, and despite earnest instructions not to reveal his age (that’s 30, in case you missed it), we thought it would only be right to share a few pictures with you too.

Happy birthday Simon – wherever you are – and we hope you are enjoying the Big Apple!
