Sale of Office Space Helps Council Cut Costs

A council which successfully raised £1m through the sale of some of its office buildings has decided to continue the process by selling off two more and convert existing unused space into office space for its employees.

“By changing working practices and by converting the old chamber at Neuadd Brycheiniog we have been able to create enough office space under that roof to fit in these staff.” Explained a spokesman from Powys council on the BBC website, “This will not only raise funds for the council, we will be saving on paying the running costs for these two buildings.”

In what appears to be a Welsh council office space revolution, Neighbouring Ceredigion council has also sold a selection of unwanted offices in Aberystwyth, raising nearly £850,000 and exceeding the original sale price by more than £300,000.
