RochdaleΓÇÖs ΓÇ£Black BoxΓÇ¥ Office Space to be Demolished

According to publicpropertyuk.com, UK building and civil engineering company Sir Robert McAlpine have been appointed by Rochdale Borough Council to build a replacement for their existing office space know locally as the ΓÇ£Black BoxΓÇ¥.

The new offices, which will apparently be completed in 2012, will leave the existing “Black Box” office space free to be demolished in order to make way for a new retail and leisure development at a cost of £100m. As well as occupying the old council office site the development will use the space currently occupied by a bus station.

When the new offices are completed in 2012 they will deliver open plan office space for a compliment of around 2000 Rochdale council staff as well as incorporating a new public library.
