Proposed move to Canary Wharf offices for Shell

Petrol giant Shell is currently in negotiations to move to offices in Canary Wharf, located on Bank Street in the Docklands area. The proposed lease agreement is for a reported 10 years.

Shell, who are currently based at offices in South Bank, have been looking at a number of temporary office solutions for around 2,000 staff, while long-term development works are completed on their current location.

“Shell has been looking for potential office locations for temporary office space from mid 2011,” said a company spokesperson, according to Wharf.co.uk. “We can now confirm that we are in negotiation for space at Bank Street in Canary Wharf. We do not expect a final decision for some time.”

The move is said to be temporary, as their South Bank location will remain as their long-term London base.

She added: “We have a redevelopment project for the South Bank site which runs over the next decade. During 2011 we intend to relocate some staff in London to facilitate this project.”
