Pod-Style Office Makes a Splash in Manchester
An iconic office in Manchester, which was formerly used as a sales suite at the time of a local regeneration project, is now available to lease as office space.
Located just off the Mancunian Way, the pod-style office was set up in 2000 to support a redevelopment programme in Castlefield. Driven by regeneration specialists Urban Splash, which were responsible for bringing Birmingham’s landmark Fort Dunlop back from the brink, the ‘Pod’ provided a base for the Castlefield team as the acclaimed Timber Wharf project slowly materialised.
Designed by Glenn Howells Architects, this scheme was the company’s first new build development. A mixed-use scheme comprising a small amount of retail and office space, the result is mainly residential, with a superb range of one and two bedroom apartments along with duplex and penthouse apartments.
As the development took shape, the ‘Pod’ acted as a sales suite for interested parties, and over 500 homes have changed hands within its curved walls.
Nathan Cornish, Director of Urban Splash, says that it is a “fantastic opportunity” for local businesses.
“The 1,229 sq ft space is beautifully fitted out and ready to move into immediately,” he said. “Most developers would have popped up a portakabin to sell their homes from, but we wanted our customerΓÇÖs first impressions of our sales suite to have the same ‘wow’ effect as the apartments.”
He added that the space will give the new occupier’s brand “maximum exposure on one of the city’s busiest roads.”
