Planning permission granted for green Islington office space and homes scheme
Land Securities, with Frogmore and Galliard Homes, have recently been granted planning permission for a mixed-use 1.1m sq ft City Forum scheme. According to a Land Securities press release, the development is to include office space in the Islington location, along with 720 homes, retail and restaurant space, a hotel and student accommodation.
Built around a new central public piazza, the City Forum scheme has been designed with sustainability in mind, including green and brown roofs, roof gardens, and the use of greywater and rainwater for landscape irrigation. The scheme also includes 965 sheltered bike spaces.
Land Securities are expecting over 800 jobs to be created at the site.
Paul White, Managing Director of Frogmore says: “Currently the site is both under-utilised and incompatible with its vibrant central London context. This positive response from the planning committee to our proposals recognises that well-judged, fresh investment will have a dramatic effect.”
