Place Your Bets: Will Stephen Make It to Prague?
Not to be mistaken for its high speed counterpart, the somewhat alternative Crumball Rally: Mission Impossible challenge consists of a collection of old bangers driven by teams of optimists over 1000 miles from Reims to Prague.
Among these optimists is Stephen Turner, an officebroker.com Account Manager and owner of a 1992 BMW 525 that has been pimped out to the extreme.
ΓÇ£IΓÇÖm confident in the car,ΓÇ¥ says Stephen. ΓÇ£Just not my team.ΓÇ¥
The Crumball Rally
On July 20th the starting guns will fire in Reims and around 100 ancient cars – which all cost less than £200 – will rattle off towards Prague in what is not considered a race by the judges but which Stephen insists is a race for the contestants.
This isnΓÇÖt the first time Stephen has attempted such a feat; three years ago, he was the first driver of 65 to reach the end point with a team dressed like Ghostbusters.
He also kindly stopped to tow a broken down team 600 miles to victory ΓÇô the very team he has joined this year in another bid to complete CrumballΓÇÖs Mission Impossible challenge.
ΓÇ£But thereΓÇÖs more like 100 people competing this year so itΓÇÖll be absolute carnage,ΓÇ¥ Stephen predicts. ΓÇ£Even if weΓÇÖre not first, mostly itΓÇÖs about the experience and about raising money for a worthy cause.ΓÇ¥
Raising Money for Charity
That worthy cause is The Prostate Cancer Charity, which Stephen and his team chose because theyΓÇÖve known people affected by cancer and because it is a disease that potentially poses a risk to all young men.
To raise a bit of money from the team at officebroker.com, Stephen will be coming to work dressed as a Top Gun pilot on his last day before the rally if everyone sponsors £1 towards the charity.
“I just want to say thank you so much to The Powerhouse 21 in Ashford for sponsoring me ┬ú50!” says Stephen. “But we’re still at the ┬ú75 mark and we really could use all the help we can get to make a good donation to The Prostate Cancer Charity.”
While Stephen asks for sponsorship from his local BMW dealership and a bit of coverage from The Express & Star, and the team here at officebroker.com pass round the money pot, weΓÇÖre asking you to put forward any small donation you can spare:
