Our First Guest Blog: Football Legends, Ballroom Dancing and Serviced Offices!

Our Business Centre is part of the large McCarthy’s site incorporating storage facilities and removals. The site initially was purpose built for the Cooperative Society in 1911. The actual building we are located in was originally the cinema and ballroom for the staff ΓÇô how times have changed!
When the builders started to strip out the upstairs they found old photographs dating back to the 20’s and 30’s including one of the legendary Stanley Matthews with a pair of football boots which had been manufactured on this site specially for him.
We plan to have a wall with all the photographs on display.
The building has been completely refurbished and restored to the highest standards, incorporating all the latest in high speed technology and facilities. We have however been sympathetic to the history of the building and kept some of the original features, including the pillars, high ceilings and specially-made window frames with the original detail.
The expansion has been mainly in response to demand from our current tenants, whose businesses have flourished since moving in here.
The centre has been full since last year (approx 1 year after opening) and at one time we had a waiting list ΓÇô quite something during the worst recession this country has seen for a long time. They needed to expand and neither they, nor we, wanted them to move out.
Upstairs will mirror downstairs, in terms of facilities and decor, but will provide a range of larger office suites enabling us to meet the needs of more, different sized businesses.
All the offices are fully furnished to a high standard, have the benefit of natural daylight and are individually alarmed. Included in the rent are broadband and telephone line rental as well as a professionally manned reception and all the usual, rates and utilities.
We have breakout areas with flat screen TV’s, shower facilities, bright modern kitchen areas and we even provide free tea & coffee.
There is ample free parking available. The site is monitored by CCTV and is accessible 24 hours a day 7 days a week via keypad technology.
I believe the key to our success is having a professional working environment, but one in which the tenants feel relaxed and comfortable.
Customer service is an absolute priority and we are always prepared to help in any way we can, whether it is a normal request – such as running out of stationery or something more obscure like hay fever tablets! We are however generally able to keep tenants happy with chocolate biscuits!
To coincide with the opening of the new floor, we will be taking part in the World’s Largest Coffee Morning in conjunction with Macmillan Cancer. We will be inviting everyone to come along and take part to both raise money for a very worthwhile cause and raise our profile at the same time.
