Offices of Global Firm to Boost Birmingham Market
A major global insurance broker is on the brink of opening new UK offices in the nationΓÇÖs second city of Birmingham.
The US-based chairman of Lockton ΓÇô the largest independent broker in the world ΓÇô has arrived in the country to perform the official opening ceremony on Church Street, Birmingham. The firm will occupy nearly 6,500 square feet on the sixth storey of the building.
Debbie Day, a partner of the Lockton Birmingham branch, had this to say on the move:
ΓÇ£Birmingham is the second biggest office in the UK and our aim is to be a world class player, servicing Midlands clients, including those who have an international outlook. With the office move, new people and growth plans now firmly in place, we are very much in a position where we can move forward.ΓÇ¥
ΓÇ£I am very pleased to spend time with our Birmingham operation and fully support our plans for the future,ΓÇ¥ added David Lockton, chairman. ΓÇ£We are investing heavily in order to attract new clients and new talent to the company, ensuring that Debbie and the team have all the opportunities they need to develop in the region and beyond.ΓÇ¥
The news comes as a welcome boost to the city that, like so many others, has experienced some difficulties in office take-up and employment prospects since the beginning of the recession.
Now, as the country begins to move forward, it is hoped that moves such as these will help to bring jobs, funds and regeneration to a thriving commercial city in the heart of the Midlands.
