December Business Centre of the Month… The final winner of 2010 went to Leeds-based icon Business Centres. icon operate two business centres in the UK, based in Nottingham and Leeds, and the award was presented to their Thorpe Park location, based a few miles east of Leeds city centre. The site has clocked up numerous reviews from clients and attracted positive praise from their officebroker.com account manager, Craig Stewart.
In serviced office provider news, DBH have expanded their presence in the North East by taking on Chad House in Gateshead, near Newcastle Upon Tyne. Orega’s Birmingham location on Colmore Plaza secured the signatures of two high-profile US companies, and i2 Office announced a new Executive Director in the form of Nick Wentworth-Stanley.
Serviced Office Group added to their existing portfolio with the addition of a new business centre in Maidstone, which was marked by the appearance of KITT ΓÇô a replica from the hit 1980s TV show, Knight Rider.
And to top off a busy year for Business Environment, their customer service teams became double finalists in both the Best B2B Customer Service Team category, and Best UK Customer Service Team in 2010, at the National Customer Service Awards 2010.
2010 gong for UltraSoft Technologies… In keeping with the award topic, licensing and billing specialist for the serviced office industry, UltraSoft Technologies, were presented with the Trade Supplier of the Year 2010 award for the second time by the Business Centre Association (BCA) in December.
Guest Blogger: Sallie Maskrey… BCA member and director of the award-winning Portal Business Centres, Sallie Maskrey, became a guest blogger for officebroker.com by sharing her thoughts on place branding.
SMEs neglected by government? A survey by global serviced office provider Regus discovered that 79% of business owners feel neglected and overlooked by the government.
Beyond 2010… We took a look back over 2010 at the serviced office market and examined the main fluctuations in workstation price and license length.
The new recruits… 2010 saw yet more growth for the officebroker.com team, as six new Account Managers came on board in September to cope with increasing enquiry levels. officebroker.com’s Head of UK Sales, Chris Meredith, says that he is “very impressed” with the new recruits, who have all joined from outside the serviced office market.
Christmas Scrooge… officebroker.com’s Paul Miller, who heads up the Asia Pac side of the company from Perth, Australia, took to the stage as Scrooge in the Ellenbrook Theatre Company’s adaptation of A Christmas Carol. Despite having had a 20-year break from treading the boards, Paul says he very much enjoyed the experience and his performance was described as “excellent”.
