officebroker.com attend business event with Olympic legends
David Moorcroft OBE and Lord Sebastian Coe KBE attended a business event last Friday at the Ramada Hotel in Kidderminster. New Business Manager for officebroker.com Jo Davey was also in attendance, and heard how the London 2012 Olympic Games can benefit businesses in the West Midlands as well as other locations outside of the capital.
“David Moorcroft and Lord Coe were excellent speakers,” says Jo. “They wanted to make sure we were all well aware that there are opportunities for West Midland businesses to pick up contracts for the Olympics. There are plenty of prospects out there.”
Speaker David Moorcroft reiterated during the event that over 40 contracts have already been secured by firms in the West Midlands, either directly, or as sub-contractors in the supply chain.
Since the successful 2012 London bid, websites such as West Midlands for 2012 have sprung up that help businesses in other UK locations pitch for contracts.
Appealing to businesses outside of London was one of the key factors of the winning proposal, as the team behind the London bid – headed up by Lord Coe himself – wanted to make the Olympics an event for the whole of the UK, and not just London.
