Office Space Build Begins in Weston-super-Mare
A £400 million scheme to build 650,000 sq.ft. of new office space is due to begin at the 200 acre site of Locking Parklands in Weston-super-Mare.
Work begins this month on the first phase of the project, which will see 6,000 sq.ft. of office space spring up before Christmas 2012, providing opportunities for up to 60 jobs across three commercial units on Locking Parklands.
By its estimated completion date in over 20 yearsΓÇÖ time, the scheme is expected to have provided a total of around 2,000 new jobs in Weston-super-Mare through the creation of new office blocks and a 30,000 sq.ft. innovation centre.
Elsewhere in Weston-super-Mare a similar project could soon be underway on a smaller scale, as plans have now been submitted to North Somerset Council to create office space and residential units on an abandoned industrial park in Congresbury.
If the scheme is approved, an old mill that has gone unused on the site since the 1960s could become over 9,400 sq.ft. of office space over two storeys.
The future of the project lies partly in the hands of local residents, who are being asked to share any opposition to the plans with Congresbury Parish Council at a meeting on April 30th 2012.
