Office Inspiration: Giant Lobster Sets Tone for Creative Workspace
If you’ve never furnished your office with a giant langoustine then you’re losing out. We tour the London office of digital agency Forward3D to discover crustacean cool and a lot more besides…
Every office needs a talking point ΓÇô and they donΓÇÖt come much quirkier than this giant langoustine. Original designs for the office featured a lion atop the plinth but the Forward3D team decided they wanted something more unexpected. The langoustine was discovered at a movie prop company and has been a resounding success. Everyone asks to see it when they first visit the office.
But these offices are far more than a talking point; at heart, Forward3DΓÇÖs London home is a social space. Take this meeting room as an example: the glass partition means people can see in and out, so that even when youΓÇÖre working inside this space youΓÇÖre not cut off from the rest of the office.
We also love the way that the silhouetted tree design transforms the partition into a striking feature in its own right.
And while weΓÇÖre enjoying a bit of monochrome design, the feature wall in this meeting room is all thatΓÇÖs needed to create a high impact space which is both creative and professional.
This multi-purpose auditorium is kitted out with light/audio mixers, PA, plus projectors and fixed cameras to film events. ItΓÇÖs a flexible space which Forward3D puts to many uses. The gigantic staircase can be used as seating when the company holds meetings or external events, but itΓÇÖs also a breakout space where employees can bring their laptops and work away from the desk.
In true creative style, they have a Ping-Pong table and a music room too, meaning plenty of excuses for the team to get together.
As company canteens go, this has to be one of our favourites. Homely furnishings almost make you forget that you’re at work and the lampshades are the perfect finishing touch. On the subject of feeling at home… breakfast, lunch and snacks are served here every day for free – and they get ice cream on a Friday afternoon. With a canteen like this in the office, we might never go home.
