New media hub for Manchester city centre

A group of buildings owned by Manchester City Council are taking shape as a new media and digital centre. The Sharp Project in Newton Heath, east Manchester, is just minutes from the city centre and within easy reach of Salford’s highly acclaimed MediaCity.

With construction well underway and a special effects film studio in the making, the former home of electronics company Sharp is rapidly taking shape.

According to an article by the Manchester Evening News, Sue Woodward, previous boss of Granada and who is now managing delivery of The Sharp Project, said: “It will be Manchester’s equivalent of the Abbey Road studios.”

The article also reports on interest by a record production company, who are said to be considering signing up to a 10-year lease to take space at the media facility. Find out more at www.thesharpproject.co.uk.
