Network Rail plans could boost take-up of office space in major UK cities
Plans outlined by Network Rail for a new high-speed line from London to Scotland have been welcomed by businesses all over the UK.
If the plans are brought to fruition, the £34 billion high-speed transport network would connect several major UK cities, including Central London, Birmingham, Manchester, Warrington, Liverpool, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Available office space in these locations is expected to receive a boost in take-up, specifically where offices are situated in proximity to the stations.
As reported on SME Web, business leaders in the West Midlands have welcomed the plans. Bridget Blow, President of Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says:
“The development of a high speed transport network with Birmingham at its crux has the potential to transform our regional economy, driving commerce and productivity forward.”
The proposals state that trains can travel up to 200mph on the new high-speed lines, which would allow commuters to travel from London to Birmingham in just 46 minutes.
