MK Revving-Up for Big Office Space Deal

MK Revving-Up for Big Office Space Deal

According to a report in todayΓÇÖs edition of Property Week, Volkswagen are on the verve of completing the biggest office space letting in Milton Keynes since 1994, with an offer having been placed on a four-storey office building offering nearly 100,000 sq. ft. of office space at the Caldecotte Lake Business Park.

With other large-scale office requirements from Siemens and BP also apparently on the horizon it would appear that the MK postcode has maintained its appeal to large firms, as the arrival of such noted names would add to the likes of Argos, BT, Tesco and the Open University who already occupy large amounts of office space in Milton Keynes and employ nearly 10,000 people.*

The location of Milton Keynes undoubtedly plays an important part in helping the city appeal as an office space location to these large firms, with easy access to the M1 and M40 Motorways as well as its position on the mainline rail network between Central London and Birmingham City Centre.

There are also 34 serviced offices listed as active within the MK postcode via the officebroker.com website. Offering flexible workspace and cost-effective solutions to businesses of all sizes, serviced office space providers may stand to benefit from the arrival of other large firms such as VW, with the many contractors, suppliers and support firms that surround such large companies often proving to be a perfect fit for Milton Keynes serviced offices.

Interest in the CityΓÇÖs serviced office space has continued to grow during 2010, with officebroker.com having recorded a 12% increase in serviced office enquiries between January ΓÇô September compared to the same nine-month period of 2009.

Workstation prices in the Milton Keynes area remain below 2009 levels however, with the average price of £218.00 per workstation recorded in 2010 being £27.00 lower than the average price of £245.00 per workstation recorded in 2009.

But with the article from Property Week also highlighting the up-coming arrival of Network RailΓÇÖs 400,000 sq. ft. headquarters on the site of the former national hockey stadium, competition for office space from the likes of contractors and support firms could lead to rising workstation prices in Milton Keynes serviced offices.
