MediaCityUK Welcomes another Greenhouse to the Office Industry

The developers behind MediaCityUK have recently submitted plans for a brand new office development which is set to complement the existing and fully occupied Pie Factory – a former food production building that was converted in 2007 to accommodate media companies.

The latest addition to MediaCityUK’s acclaimed range of media office space in Salford is The Greenhouse.

A planned three-storey studio and office property, the Greenhouse was formerly used as the site office for project design and management company Bovis Lend Lease, and supplied office space for over 2,000 staff during the early construction stages of MediaCityUK.

Designed by architects Stephenson Bell, the property – which is currently awaiting planning approval – will be developed by Peel Media, the team behind MediaCityUK, with the intention of creating a range of office suites to suit small businesses in the creative and media industries.

“The Greenhouse will provide self-contained office suites spread over three floors,” commented Stephen Wild, managing director of real estate for Peel Media.

“It is located less than a minute’s walk from the new tram terminus at the heart of MediaCityUK and complements the media hub we’ve created at The Pie Factory. It is an ideal solution for small companies looking for a cost effective and flexible way to be part of the MediaCityUK environment.”

Interestingly, the building shares the same name as another property that recently burst onto the office scene.

The Greenhouse (in Leeds) is a super-sustainable property comprising accommodation, studios and Grade A office space, all of which have been designed and created out of a 1930s lodge in South Leeds.

Wind turbines, solar power and heat exchange systems all play their part to reduce the carbon footprint of The Greenhouse’s tenants, which is expected to save office tenants around 60% per year on energy costs.

The scheme has so far attracted interest from SMEs, FDs, creative and media businesses.
