Investment Boost for Wenta’s Business Start-Up Scheme

Investment Boost for Wenta’s Business Start-Up Scheme

Serviced office provider Wenta, which operates business centre locations across Stevenage, Potters Bar and Watford, has received a funding boost for their existing business incubation scheme which will enable them to expand the service across all of their centres.

My Incubator is designed to offer local entrepreneurs the opportunity to use Wenta’s hot-desking facilities and work alongside a business advisor whilst starting up their company.

The scheme is already in place at two of Wenta’s locations in Stevenage and Luton, and following a ┬ú350k investment boost from the company’s partners, the start-up programme is now being rolled out to their other centres in Potters Bar and Watford.

The funding has been provided jointly by Hertsmere Together, Watford Borough Council and the East of England Development Agency (EEDA), while Wenta will run and fund the revenue costs for the centre.

In addition to the new My Incubator service, the investment will also allow an extension to be built on the property that will introduce a reception area, meeting rooms, training facilities and a new IT and telecoms infrastructure.

Councillor Morris Bright, chairman of the Local Strategic Partnership, Hertsmere Together, and leader of Hertsmere Borough Council, commented:

“The council is keen to support local business initiatives especially in the current financial climate as small businesses can really help boost the local economy.

“The new facility in Potters Bar will be a valuable resource for start-up businesses as well as the existing local business community and future generations of budding entrepreneurs.”

Wenta’s Business & Technology Centre (btc) in Stevenage, winner of officebroker.com’s Business Centre of the Month Award in June 2010, was the first location to offer My Incubator. The centre went on to win the National Enterprise Award for Innovation in September 2010 at the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies’ annual awards ceremony.

Gary Gentleman, Managing Director of Gentleman Studios, found the My Incubator service at btc an essential part of his company’s growth.

“I’d looked into other office space before I heard of Wenta, but as a start-up the cost of desk space was overwhelming,” he said. “To get a free 3 month head start, followed by up to 9 months of affordable desk space and on-site expertise in running a business… incredible! This centre truly provides me with the best start I could hope for.”

Chris Pichon, Chief Executive of Wenta, describes the scheme as a “much needed beacon of light” for start-up businesses and those who are working hard to make their venture a success.

“We are offering the next generation of entrepreneurs the support they need to turn their business dream into a reality,” he said, speaking at the time of the My Incubator launch.

“As well as first class business centre facilities, our expert advisors are constantly on hand to offer much needed guidance, support and training through those challenging early months.”
