Heron Tower Office Building ΓÇô The UKΓÇÖs New Tallest Building
London today gained a new tallest building in the form of 110 Bishopsgate a.k.a Heron Tower, a 46 storey, 230m high building that will provide 439,560 sq ft of centrally located prime office space only a short distance from Liverpool Street Station.
Developed by property and investment specialists Heron International, the new addition to the London skyline is due to be completed in March 2011, when in addition to the prime office space the building will also provide apartments, restaurants and skybar.
Speaking at the ceremony, Heron chief executive Gerald Ronson was quoted as saying: ΓÇ£Today we begin the countdown to completion that is less than 50 weeks away. Whether this is by luck or judgment, I believe that Heron Tower has come to market at the right time.ΓÇ¥
The office building will be covered in a slender, sleek glass and stainless steal cladding and is being marketed as an ΓÇ£Advanced Business Life EnvironmentΓÇ¥ and secured a BREEM rating of ΓÇ£ExcellentΓÇ¥ in January. Amongst the many features adorning the building as photovoltaic cells, generating renewable energy and providing the cutting edge office building with a ΓÇ£triple skinΓÇ¥ ΓÇô reducing heat gain by 45% over standard glazing solutions.
