First three offices for BBC at MediaCityUK to be completed under budget
The first three office properties for the BBC, which are being created at MediaCityUK – the acclaimed new Salford development – are due to be completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
Head of Property at the BBC, Chris Kane, has said that their new base at MediaCityUK on Salford Quays is “an ambitious programme” in terms of the complex requirements and technical facilities, but also because it is being designed as an “enduring landmark building that the public can use”.
“But, with Salford Quays ahead of schedule and under budget,” continues Chris, speaking to Property Week, “the benefits that will be delivered alongside it are huge.”
Of the three properties that the BBC are taking on, building ‘C’ was handed over in October 2009, and buildings A and B are reportedly due to be signed off this month.
All of the new studio and office buildings will meet the coveted BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating for sustainability.
