Facelift and Video Shoot for Historic Airport Terminal
A business centre based within the former Croydon Airport terminal, which played a significant role throughout Britain’s social and military history, has recently undergone a full refurbishment and now features in a video tour.
Located on Purley Way near Croydon, the centre is located at the site of the world’s first purpose-built commercial airport.
Since the creation of the terminal building in 1928, it has been at the heart of many key moments in history and has attracted its fair share of pioneering aviators. Among its esteemed list of visitors is Charles Lindbergh – who completed the first solo trans-Atlantic flight, and Amy Johnson – the first woman to fly to Australia. Winston Churchill also reportedly took flying lessons at the airport.
Today, the former terminal has been carefully restored and converted into serviced office space, but continues to pay homage to its fascinating past in a number of ways. For example, a visitor centre and ‘Museum of Aviation’ is based within the airport’s old control tower on the top floor, and numerous items such as original signs and photographs are on display throughout the building.
Aviation enthusiasts will also appreciate the building’s showpiece – a De Havilland Heron aircraft – which is positioned outside the front entrance. This is the same model that made the last flight out of the airport on 30th September 1959.
Today, the striking Art Deco building continues to play its part in British industry by housing a range of businesses both large and small, and interested clients can now get a sneak peek inside the building by visiting the online profile page and watching the video.
Created by the officebroker.com video team, the coverage is designed to help businesses who are looking for office space by allowing clients a more detailed insight into the space, and to get a feel for the overall standard and culture of the space prior to booking a tour.
