Entrants competing at a former Tough Guy event

James Villarreal, the current Birmingham Young Professional of the Year and MD of utilities company Glide, Fullrange Media’s Lee Kemp and Colin White of Ortus are joining forces to take on the Tough Guy Challenge at the end of January, a daring endurance event incorporating a series of difficult obstacles and extreme challenges.

The original Tough Guy event takes place every January near Wolverhampton, and is said to be the “original and toughest test of its kind anywhere in the World.”

With obstacles ranging from freezing lakes and mud-filled tunnels, to areas of the course such as Bracken Maze Torture, the Killing Fields and Ghurka Grand National, the event is certainly not to be taken lightly, and is a solid test of physical and mental ability.

Colin, of professional services growth firm Ortus, said that the team were undaunted.

“Over 600 people were treated for hypothermia following the completion of the event last year, apparently,” he said, according to TheBusinessDesk. “I was told that bit after I agreed to take part. The event is considered to be one of the world’s toughest events, and is ludicrously difficult.”

The team aims to raise ┬ú2,000 for their chosen charity, Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Part of the funds will also go to the event’s designated good causes, which include Help for Heroes.

Last year, officebroker.com’s Head of UK Sales, Chris Meredith, took on the Tough Guy challenge with his brother Sean, after he was entered into it as a birthday present. Read more here: Tough Guy of the serviced office world!
