Design Competition Launched for New Co-op Head Office Scheme
With work now underway on The Co-operative GroupΓÇÖs new head office in Manchester, as reported earlier this month on the officebroker.com blog, a competition has been launched to find a design team that will help create the public realm element of the 20-acre site ΓÇô focusing on the open area that will sit in front of the groups new city centre office space.
Launched as a joint project between The Co-operative Group and Manchester City Council, the winning design team will be required to create detailed, costed and deliverable designs for the early phase of the work and deliver a clear vision and material palette for future phases.
Part of a wider regeneration project, the ambitious city council backed redevelopment comprises historic buildings, industrial history and large areas of open land. The creation of the new head office will also see The Co-operative Group move from the complex of nine office buildings it currently occupies in the Victoria Station area.
