Businesses to Benefit from 4G Revolution
Announcements that 4G ΓÇô superfast mobile connectivity ΓÇô is to roll out early in 2013 have prompted one industry expert to weigh in on the benefits to UK business.
The news that 4G is coming to the UK has largely been aimed at a consumer audience ΓÇô brands are initially targeting new generation iPhone users and everyday mobile network subscribers.
But as an increasing number of UK companies employ smartphones and tablets on a regular basis, how will this technology upgrade impact future business?
What is 4G?
4G represents the fourth generation of mobile connectivity technology, for which the bar has been raised higher than ever before.
4G is not a new kind of system but rather a refined version of the same mobile technology, developed to meet new standards that 3G never can. To operate on a 4G system means to enjoy smoother web browsing and superfast downloads.
While this is certainly promising to regular mobile device users, the success of your 4G phone or tablet still depends on your signal quality and service provider.
Benefits for Business ΓÇÿReal and ImmediateΓÇÖ
Managing Director of service provider Claranet UK, Michel Robert, insists that the imminent arrival of widespread 4G services is actually far better news for business than it is for personal users.
ΓÇ£Businesses will be able to use a 4G enabled router to access cheap, fast and effective backup connectivity in the event of any disruption to their main network,ΓÇ¥ explains Mr Robert. ΓÇ£Rather than invest in redundant physical networks, businesses will instead be able to connect via a superfast mobile connection.
ΓÇ£The implications for businesses could be immediate, by enabling them to switch seamlessly to a service delivered over the mobile spectrum at a fraction of the cost of a redundant cable connection, making it especially attractive to smaller businesses.
ΓÇ£If service providers partner with mobile network operators, then the benefits for businesses will be real and immediate.ΓÇ¥
