Birmingham city centre holds strong against dismal regional performance
In a study by officebroker.com, Birmingham’s serviced office space market over the first three quarters of 2009 has shown a decline in both enquiries and occupier take-up.
However, enquiries in Q3 2009 for city centre offices has remained on a par with 2008, suggesting that the city centre may lead the region to a better performance in Q4.
– Year-on-year over the first three quarters, enquiries in Birmingham were -6% down in 2009
– New occupiers also down in 2009 by -14%
– Percentage of enquiries for city centre in Q3 2009 was 40.3%, compared with 39.9% in Q3 2008
– Average cost of a workstation in 2009 was ┬ú81 below that of 2008 (average of ┬ú332 per desk in 2008 compared to ┬ú251 in 2009)
